In recognition of the critical importance of food security to a continent in constant need for foreign aid, ACDF invested in the developement of agriculture. Society for shelter, Education, Food and Agricultural Development in Africa ( ASSEFAD ) was established in 1998 as an organ of the foundation with the mandate to work with African Farmers to develop their skills through constant training, change their attitudes and culture possitively in order to boost food security in the continent and reposition the continent for the global development challenges of meeting the Millenium Development goals ( MDGs) of halving poverty by 2015.

ASSEFAD was duly registered as a Non Govermental Organisation in 2000 under part C of the Company and Allied Matters Decree No. 1 of 1990 with Charity Registration NO. RC: 12,740.
The NGO shares common staff and facilities with the ACDF as an integral part of the Foundation for Poverty Reduction through Agricultural and Rural development. ACDF in 1999 acquired 50 Hectare of farmland at Okeludu, Ijebu Imusin in Ijebu East Local Government of Ogun State for seed multiplication and Training ground for rural farmers.
